Agapanthus
(Liliaceae/Alliaceae) Genus of about 10 species of bold, clump forming vigorous perennials, some evergreen from southern Africa. Large umbels of bell flowers borne in three main inflorescence types - rounded umbels of bell to trumpet-shaped flowers; intermediate umbels of usually trumpet-shaped flowers and pendent umbels of tubular flowers. Good for cutting. Followed by decorative seed heads. Leaves strap shaped. Most are reasonably hardy especially narrow leaved forms.
