Galanthus elwesii AGM	(Amaryllidaceae). Genus of about 19 species of bulbous perennials found from Europe to W. Asia, mostly in upland woodland but also in rocky sites. Bloom mainly from late winter to mid-spring each bulb producing a single pendent white flower. Three large outer petals and three small, inner ones forming a cup which is green marked. Some are scented. Most vigorous and easily grown. Some suitable for naturalizing in grass or woodland. Do not allow bulbs to dry out. Large grey leaves and typical double-marked large flowers.
