Five Monarda of OUR choice for £20
| (Labiatae/Lamiaceae). Called Bee balm or Oswego tea in America, Bergamot in UK. Genus of about 15 species of clump forming herbaceous perennial grown for their aromatic foliage and flowers. Occurs in dry, scrub prairies and woodland in N. America. Strong lemony aroma. Simple or sparsely branching square stems bear alternate, opposite, lance shaped toothed leaves with conspicuous veins. Dense whorls of two lipped, sage-like, richly coloured hooded flowers at top of stem appear mid to late summer. Long flowering and loved by butterflies and bees. Old fashioned good garden plant. Flowering July to Sept. Sold in 9cm pots
