Osteospermum
| (Asteraceae/Compositae). African Daisy. Genus of 70 species of evergreen shrub, often classified as a subshrub and perennials mostly from southern Africa but also from the Arabian Peninsula. Found in grassland, on rocky mountains and at forest margins. The alternate leaves are linear to broadly obovate with entire, toothed or lobed margins. Grown for their daisy-like flowerheads made up of ray florets surrounding the disc florets which start in May till frosts. Usually pink, lilac or white borne singly or in open panicles. Dead head regularly to prolong flowering. It can be used as groundcover or in borders and containers.
