Papaver hybrids Three of our choice for £12
| (Papaveraceae). Poppy. Genus of 70 species of biennials ad perennials, some semi-evergreen grown for cup shaped flowers. Occur in a wide range of habitats from lowlands to high mountains, most are from C. and S. Europe and temperate Asia, a few from South Africa, Australia, W. North America and subarctic regions. Leaves are simple and toothed, bristly or smooth. The usually unbranched, wiry stems exude latex and carry wide spreading, bowl shaped, 4-petalled papery, often frilly flowering in summer loved by bees and butterflies. The pepper pot seed pods are good for drying. Reasonably well drained soil. Best in full sun.
