Pelargonium
| (Geraniaceae). Geranium. Genus of about 230 species of mainly evergreen perennials, succulents, sub shrubs and shrubs commonly but incorrectly know as geraniums. They occur in a variety of habitats from mountains to deserts mostly in South Africa. Summer flowering, often evergreen, colourful 5-petalled flowers borne continuously. Carried in terminal umbel-like clusters, saucer or star shaped Good in pots and bedding. Dead head frequently. The most well known foliage ones include Angel, zonal, ivy-leaved, regal and scented often on long stalks. Well drained, neutral to alkaline soil in sun or part shade.
