| (Leguminosae/Papilionaceae). Clover. Genus of about 240 species of erect or creeping herbaceous perennials some of which are semi-evergreen. Usually found on scree or in grassy meadows or scrub worldwide, except in Australasia, and mainly in the N. hemisphere. Rounded, three lobed, palmate leaves have entire or toothed leaflets usually with stipules. Superb long flowering hardy plant. Mauve brush-like flowers similar to clover from late June. Some species are useful in rock or wildflower gardens, on banks; others in agriculture. Superb long flowering hardy plant. Sun and moist, neutral soil best. Ht 60cm/2'. Sold in 9cm pots
