(Campanulaceae) Bellflower.Genus of about 300 species of spring and summer flowering clump forming perennials some of which are evergreen. They are distributed widely throughout temperate zones of the N. hemisphere particularly in S Europe and Turkey. They grow in diverse habitats from high alpine rock crevices and scree to moorland, meadows and woodland. Delicate flower colours best preserved in the shade. Remove dead flowers for continued flowering. Campanulas prefer sun to part shade, any soil. Easy to grow.
