(Asteraceae/Compositae) Michaelmas daisy. Genus of about 250 species of perennials and deciduous or evergreen sub-shrubs from a variety of habitats. This includes well-drained, mountainous sites to moist woodland in the N. hemisphere particularly North America. Some of the shrubby species are from South Africa. Lavender blue daisy-like flower head summer-autumn. Seething with blossom and loved by bees and butterflies. Will grow on clay/alkaline soils. Moisture needed in summer

Long flowering season, easy. Late July to October. Large lavender blue flowers. Leaves large and oval. Not subject to mildew. Will grown on clay/alkaline soils. Eventual Ht 75cm/2.5'. Plants sold in 9cm pots.
