(Ranunculaceae) Kingcup, Marsh marigold. Genus of about 10 species of rhizomatous, marshland or marginal aquatic deciduous perennial plants. Leaves are heart or kidney shaped. Cup shaped yellow flowers in spring before the dense clumps of foliage appear. A second flush of flower is often produced in summer. Grows in wet, boggy places, such as marshes, fens, ditches and wet woods. It becomes most luxuriant in partial shade. Stems are hollow. Eventual Ht 80cm/3'. Sold in 9cm pots
