Auriculas prefer a sunny site and well drained soil. Flowering in April and May they are hardy and categorised into Fancy, show selfs, Gold centred and light centred alpines.Fancy auriculas are same as Green Edged except for the band of black (body colour) which can be any colour except black. Show selfs have single unshaded colour around inner circle of white paste. Usually have dusting of farina (powder) on leaves giving frosted look. Honey scent.
Alpine auriculas have no farina (powder) on the plant. Outer petal colour fades as it reaches the edge of the petal. Gold centred alpines colours range from red, orange and brown. Light centred alpines are usually mauves, pinks and blues contrasting with light cream centres. Colours indicated are from outside petals, inwards. All are exquisite. Ht 15cm/6". Sold in 9cm pots
