(Gramineae/Poaceae). African Love Grass. Genus of approximately 250 species of clump-forming, perennial grasses widely distributed throughout tropical and temperate regions of the world. They occur on cultivated or disturbed ground, often on sandy soils. The narrowly linear leaves are flat or rolled. Dense panicles of small, flattened, closely overlapping spikelets are borne on slender, upright stems from summer to autumn. Flowers are useful for cut flower arrangements. Cut back old stems in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Medium to light, moderately fertile soil, in sun best. Eventual Ht 90cm/3'. Sold in 9cm pots
