Melianthus major AGM



(Melianthaceae). Honeybush. Genus of 6 species of evergreen perennials and shrubs from grassland in southern Africa. The blue-green leaves have prominent stipules. Small rich red flowers producing profuse quantities of nectar are borne in June. Each has 5 sepals and petals, upper ones forming a hood looking like pineapples early summer. Good for borders or as specimens, particularly suited for coastal areas. Sunny site. Eventual Ht 60cm/2'. Plants sold in 9cm pots
