(Gramineae/Poaceae). Meadow grass, Spear grass. Genus of about 500 species of mainly perennial grasses found in cool-temperate regions in a wide range of habitats from seashores to alpine zones. Grown for their narrow blue leaves and open or compact summer flowering panicles. Suitable for a border or for naturalizing in woodland and other shady situations. Cut back dead foliage early spring. Moderately fertile soil, sun or part shade. Eventual Ht 90cm/3'. Sold in 9cm pots
